Meet the Founder: Zachary Barber

Born and raised in Baltimore, Maryland. Zachary developed an early hands-on interest in tools and mechanics. He trained in automotive and diesel technology before gaining industry experience at companies like Ingersoll Rand, AutoZone, R&L Carriers, and Tools & Accessories.

In 2007, he enlisted in the U.S. Army as a turbine engine technician (MOS 15B). Over a 20-year career, he rose to Company First Sergeant and Battalion Operations NCOIC, serving at bases across the U.S., Korea, Hawaii, and completing two combat deployments to Afghanistan.

His military service taught him leadership, how to manage diverse teams under pressure, and the critical importance of having the right tool for the job — lessons he carries into every aspect of Yorktown Tools.

Before retiring, Zachary earned an A.S. in Aeronautics and a B.S. in Project Management from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University and now founding Yorktown Tools allowed him to combine military discipline, community pride, and a desire to make a real difference for his family and the hardworking contractors he serves.
